This exercise will ask you to first brainstorm and then reflect on your writing process.
Brainstorm: On a separate piece of paper, please outline your writing process. What steps do you take? What strategies did you use? If you had the opportunity to do it again, what would you change about your approach? Have you learned anything important about your writing process during our semester?
Reflect: Imagine you had to give a brief one-minute presentation to the class about something that works well in your writing process. What are your strengths as a writer? What are the strengths of your writing process? What strategies work well for you that might also work well for others? What problems did you face and how did you solve them?
(Adapted from 50 Classroom Assessment Techniques by Angelo and Cross, this exercise asks you to strategize about the strengths and weaknesses of your writing process. The metacognitive process encourages you to adjust your strategies.)
